This print was produced for Celebrating All Types, an exchange portfolio orchestrated by Partners in Print for the Hamilton Wood Type and Printing Museum’s 2021 Wayzgoose. Participants were asked to consider inclusivity and civic engagement as themes, and to use wood type for at least part of their print.
This quote from Robin Wall Kimmerer’s book Braiding Sweetgrass is from the chapter titled Maple Nation. Hand set wood type and metal type, printed in multiple runs with split fountain color treatment.

This print was a collaboration with Brian Scott Bagdonas, created late at night at Stumptown Printers. Linotype cast type (14 pt Electra and 6pt Spartan heavy), Monotype and Linotype ornamental material. The sky and plant shapes were pressure printed relief using hand cut material.
Marfa Myths is a multi-day art and music festival held each spring in Marfa, TX. It was founded in 2014 by nonprofit contemporary arts foundation Ballroom Marfa and Brooklyn-based music label Mexican Summer.

This trilogy of tiny prints uses 12pt. American Type Founders Alpha-Blox, both Linear and Reverse. I used the characters to create patterns representative of the interior of an active beehive: eggs, larvae, pollen and honey stores, and the Supersedure cell that lets you know a new queen is on the way.

This short ghost story was written by Colin Meloy and illustrated by Carson Ellis.
Originally intended to be Monotype composed, the end version was instead printed in two colors from magnesium relief plates in a limited edition. Digitally typeset in Eric Gill's Perpetua type face. Hand sewn into paper covers with the assistance of Jules Remedios Faye. Signed and lettered editions included a 4" x 6" two color print.

"A Word in Print" was created for the Printed Word exhibit in conjunction with the performance of Josh Kornbluth's Ben Franklin Unplugged at Portland Center Stage. The text is inspired by the aphorisms published by Franklin in the Poor Richard's Almanack.
Typefaces are foundry Franklin Gothic, Goudy Bold, Cheltenham Italic. Decorative material is Linotype border material and rule, ATF ornaments.

Designed to serve as gift tags for the urban backyard farmer, these were used to adorn jars of honey, bundles of produce, or a carton of freshly laid eggs.
Type is hand-set foundry Litho Roman. "Goodness" is set with ATF ornaments, the other illustrations of a honey extractor and chicken were found randomly in a collection of cuts.

Commissioned by the author, Carolyn Winch, this accordion-style book features seasonal haiku inspired by the the desert around Bend, Oregon. Illustrations are from original ink drawings by Shuko Kawase.
Type is digitally set in Frutiger and Rusticana, letterpress printed from magnesium relief plates. Printed in six colors and hand-bound into cloth covers with a paper wrap.

A short story written by Jeff Grimes, with cover illustration by Kristin Bye.
The cover is letterpress printed with hand-set Monotype Alternate Gothic, and the original ink illustration is printed from a magnesium relief plate. Interior pages are litho offset, printed at Stumptown Printers from metal plates. The booklet is hand sewn with a pamphlet stitch.
